Frequently Asked Questions
When should you call our emergency team?
If you are ever concerned about your pet’s health, it’s best to call the vet. You know your pet best. Our out of hours emergency service ensures that there is always a qualified vet and veterinary nurse on site for you to talk to. Emergency situations can include accidents, pets eating or otherwise accessing poisonous or dangerous substances or any other deterioration in condition. If you are concerned enough to ring us, we need to see your pet.
Who can access our emergency service?
All Sevenoaks Vets clients can access our emergency team 24/7, and we partner with other local practices to provide an out of hours service for their clients. All practices need to provide their clients with an out of hours service. If you are unsure who to contact, please speak to your regular vets.
Are emergency vets covered by insurance?
Each individual insurance policy will differ in how much and what they cover. Most policies will cover veterinary fees, including out of hours services – but this does depend on the level of cover you have purchased. We have a dedicated team that deals with our insurance claims. Sevenoaks Vets clients can speak to their local team for more advice on insurance.
What pets can access our emergency and out of hours care?
While we most frequently see cats and dogs, we are able to treat all small animals, from rabbits and guinea pigs to reptiles, birds and amphibians.
Do emergency vets do euthanasia?
Unfortunately, there may be cases where it is the right decision for us to recommend euthanasia. Our 24/7 out of hours service ensures that we will always have team members available to support you in difficult situations.
